It is very cringe-worthy as a cover photo I agree. I think they could create a better cover to represent the content of the book without being off putting to potential readers/consumers.

I honestly do not care for the cover page. It leaves you not wanting to read the darn book.

To be honest i didn't like the design, it doesn't look attractive to me. This make me feels like what is written in the book is something not interesting or benefit me.

I will definitely admit that the cover page was not very appealing to me. I am one of those readers that must get pulled in from the very first look at the book. Reading the blurb is just not sufficient for me. I'm sure this book has an interesting story to tell but the cover page definitely did not make want to read the book right away.

The tattoos and sword swallowing didn't affect me as much as the fact it was modern day. My preconception of sword swallowers is that they're from the turn of the twentieth century. The contrast just really threw me.

Like others, albeit for different reasons, I wasn't interested in reading the book based solely on the title and cover. However after reading the posts on this topic I think I've changed my mind!

Normally, I despise judging a book by its cover because I feel as though you could miss out on some really good stories.

However, having just looked at the cover I’m quite disappointed by the lack of effort that was put into it. It just looks like a tourist took a picture of a street performer on their iphone. The font doesn’t do it any justice either.

I absolutely agree. The lack of effort in the cover makes me assume there may be a lack of effort in the story itself.

I thought the cover was daring in a devilish kind of way. It's not too bad, a kid could look at it and go 'that's an interesting occupation; sword-swallowing is'. Sorry, that was intended to make you laugh, don't take me seriously. Anyway, the cover is not that terrible, I actually know most book cover's that are actually worse.

I like the book cover and the crowd is an indication of the marvel he is about to do.

I also had a similar opinion about the cover of the book. However, after reading much of the book, I realized that may be in the future I should not be too quick to push a book aside based on the cover. I hope other readers can go beyond the cover when choosing a book.

I did not like the cover and perhaps the author could consider changing it in subsequent editions. It might put off some readers, but then they say one should never judge a book by its cover. :D

while I would not get into a discussion on tatoos, the thing that bothers me the most is the sword swallowing. that in itself diminishes my consideration to read the book to almost zero.

The image itself is not bad. If it was a real sword swallower captured in the moment it would look great. The sword looks a tad too fake, but I do like how he stands out. And it does seem to capture some essence of Duke in the picture, but I think it's just a little too busy. Too many people in the background. Most covers focus on one group or thing and then have a solid or flowing color for background. So I agree, definitely not inviting to the reader. Still liked the book though. And yes definitely not for all ages.
