Duke will be the guy. Besides being the protagonist, he was a likable character and his story overall was very interesting.

I found Duke more compelling . He is mature and has figured out who he is and where he wants to be in life. I found Gary overbearing. He was just too much to handle at times.

I prefer Gary. In spite of his shortcomings, he is an interesting, likable, and funny character. I enjoyed reading about him.

Duke is more likeable to me than Gary. I felt like identifying with him.

I also found Gary to be a very good character.

Since Duke is the key protagonist, most of the story is centered around him and so he is the most likeable character.

Duke. Duke is crazy and a lot more memorable.

I liked Duke more because he faces life maturely.

I honestly can't identify with either character but I will go with Duke.

Gary was sort of a sad and slightly comical character for me, and I thought Duke had more substance. I liked him (Duke) even more once he got sober and had real wisdom to share. Gary was interesting, but compared to Duke, was less redeeming.

Duke was always in touch with his demons. He understood the risks and consequences of his actions, but still made the choices he did. I liked this flawed character because he took ownership of his choices.
Gary, well, Gary didn't make choices. Gary just hedonistically drifts from one bad decision to another. He turns his life around but we aren't witnesses to that transformative stage of his life--just to
the wild years and the events that occur decades later.

I prefer Gary even tho duke made it interesting too.I really enjoyed Gary because from the start he made the story lovely for me to continue....

I liked both characters really well, both of them equally. Their stories are amazing, and coupled together they make the whole book sounds so interesting and inspiring in some way.
