Living the life of one's dreams, going on road trips, having fun experiences and many other things one would love to do and never getting the chance. A final notice is certainly not a bad idea.
The highest option was 30 days though. Would that be enough time? I totally agree with you about the forgetting to live life to the fullest but I think that can be remedied simply by remembering that you need to. Thoughts?

How do doctors discuss when results show a person has cancer, especially terminal cancer? The patient doesn't receive a phone call, they go to the office. There is protocol because of the psyche. So, to receive a message like that from a watch and not know how to process it is dangerous.
For some reason, you saying this just made me realize that it is odd that the watch could do this so accurately. You are right, you go to a doctor and talk about your options, so how would the watch be able to account for what treatment you are going to choose?

I am guessing based on your quote though that you would still support in being in existence for others? I agree with you, I would not personally want it, but I could see why other people would.

jessinikkip wrote: 04 Mar 2018, 02:51 I found the idea of a Final Notice too frightening to want in my own watch. I wear the Garmin branded version of the FitBit now, and I've seen how easy it is to manipulate that. It has a pulse monitor and if I move my arm a certain way, it reads like I have no heart beat when really I'm just resting my wrist against the arm of a chair. How many ways could a final notice go wrong?
I thought about this same thing! I have a FitBit that has the same problem. The first time they talked about the watch my first thought was about that and how this is way more intricate than just a heartbeat. I would always just assume it was messing up. I guess that would be part of why it tells you to go see a doctor though.

briellejee wrote: 05 Mar 2018, 09:13 I think I would want that to prepare myself and my loved ones. Also, such an option could lessen the anxiety of the user. But who would really want to be reminded that they only have, three of five days to live? and on their freaking watch?
I recently watched the new season of Black Mirror and it has an episode that made me think like your comment. It works with these little things that match you with someone and then tell you how long you will be with that person before you break up. It caused people to check out of the relationship because they knew it was ending. That is the way I feel about the watch for me personally. I feel like I would just get depressed it was ending and want it to happen right away then instead of dragging out for 30 days (or whatever I chose).

This makes me curious, would you tell your children? I also have no idea how old they are but it was something I was thinking about while reading. Once it rolled out to different age groups you could have parents of young children. Would it be healthy for them to know?

Let me preface this by saying that I find it hard to believe most people would go out and kill someone, but do you think those in the book that did thought that they would? They seemed like normal everyday people.

I mean I think having the notice is nice but, as is portrayed, people can and will do stupid things with that knowledge. So can we use the knowledge to change our fate if possible.
I literally was saying that to someone above you. That I was curious how it would account for different types of treatment. With lots of conditions you would have different options so how would it be able to predict how each would affect you?

I know I have responded to some people but I wanted to throw out my response to the OP. I am totally torn on if I would or not. The reason is that my Grandma was taken from the world suddenly in an auto accident. It was really hard for me to grieve. With my Grandpa, we knew he had days to a week to live because he chose to stop being fed through his tube. I was able to deal with that so much better because we were with him his whole last week. So for those I leave behind I would want the latter. That being said the former was an accident, something that the watch would not be able to predict. All of that considered I think I would not want the option. It is always hard to lose a loved one, and really that would be the only reason I would maybe do it. Not really so that I would be able to know, but for those that would be left behind. So I would probably leave it up to them actually.

I think I'd opt in if I could set it for 3 months or so. Then I have time to go on a crazy trip, have a full thought out will, and have time to say goodbyes.

Just the thought of knowing would take me out faster than even the prescribed date. I would definitely not want to know. With all this being said, it is the responsibility of everyone to live life to the fullest, taking all possible precautions to sustain life. The rest is in the hands of the Almighty Creator.

I understand your feelings for that. The crazy trip makes me laugh. Well, to make life more meaningful. Nice idea.

Yeah right!! Knowing the day of death seems shocking! Much better not to know and relying always to God is the best.

I understand your feelings. It is so hard to accept the sudden death of our love ones. The one will suffer the loss are the people that are left behind.

I prefer not to have the final notice option on my watch. It would only create more chaos in this world. You will only stress yourself into worrying about your future rather than living your life in the present. For me, I will trust God instead and live to the fullest.
