Girl power, certainly. The book does feature five women who are strong in their own rights. I don't know if that was intentional on the writer's part though - putting the men on the back seat.

Yes there was girl power as these women run businesses and boost their careers. They uplift each other in various ways

I will not agree or disapprove with the post. Both the male and female gender are both powerful and anyone can do what he/she set the mind to. It all about determination. The author trying to portray the Can-do will-do attitude in the female characters does not make the males less of ho they are.

My take on this is that the author's mind was to bring out the hidden potentials and powers in women.

I liked that they picked a different sport and didn't think it was men only. As long as you enjoy something you should go for it. It sure gives women empowering a push, but i'm not sure if this was the writer's intention.

I think that was the feeling that I got from this book. All of the women had strong, go getter personalities which were inspiring to me.

I think that it is a story that shows how life can turn out for anyone. The story captures the lives of a women of different age groups, classes, and stature. The other thing I noticed was that challenges and successes are part of life. Away from that story, I have seen a society where everything small or big is done by women. But there should always be a binding factor. In this case, it was fly-fishing.

I mean yes the book expresses the solid bond of friendship and the protagonists we’re women who were goal oriented and successful but that only seems like a way of encouragement

The book certainly contained an undertone of girl power as majority of the lead characters are females from across different generations. The fly fishing activity is actually male oriented but with this book the author has clearly demonstrated the age long notion that "what a man can do a woman can do better".
I am proud of the ladies and the story empowered me as a liberal feminist that nothing is impossible if women set their minds to it.

I concur that there is a hint of female strength there. Nonetheless, I don't believe it to be overbearing or inappropriate. I believe it serves more as a reminder to the reader about the power, independence, and reality of these women.

I think the author was expressing his mind on the written. I might not be considering the factor.
