For me, the lesson I'll take away from this book is that women could actually ENJOY traditionally sports and pastimes. Now I can't help but wonder if a group of women would enjoy hunting. Hmmm...

Absolutely! I believe there are multiple lessons that are applicable and can be drawn from "The Reel Sisters": love, compassion, bravery, hardship, friendship, 'fly fishing' and so much more.
And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. (Revelation 20:12 (NKJV) :reading-7:

This book shows women learning how to be authentic and real with other people. How to share your struggles and share what you are really feeling or thinking. It teaches us how to open up with others and let them into our chaotic, troublesome, busy, heartbreaking, exciting, and sometimes adventurous lives.

I got that people can develop life long relationships over the mutual love of a hobby.

Women are stronger than many realize, we can do anything we set our mind to. Family is not just blood related, the bonds of friendship can be stronger than that of a blood relative.

I took up fly fishing when I decided to write this novel. I have met some of the most amazing women that love to fly fish! I firmly believe that mother nature is the best teacher, so there are many, many applicable lessons to be drawn from the book. Give it a try! ~Michelle Cummings, author of The Reel Sisters

For me, the biggest take-away from the Reel Sisters was the importance of taking time to pursue our passions and sharing that enjoyment with others.

I think an important lesson (in addition to the strength of being a woman) is the importance of friendship. These excursions with friends were really necessary for these women to take a break from their normal lives. We can all probably be reminded of the importance of good, close friends.
