Girl Power was definitely the strongest, and the bond between them was super tight knit and I love that.

I have to concur with bookowlie's comment....the strongest theme in the book should be recognized as an association of the characters linked by a common interest rather than merely girl power

in my opinion, it appears there is a thin line between girl power and friendship, but I think girl power overrides friendship

I would have to say "teamwork" most closely depicts the overarching theme. "Girl Power", in the way I interpret the phrase, is not what is being conveyed. Camaraderie and female bonding are good terms to describe what I took away from the book. Sharing a common hobby is a powerful adhesive in forming bonds, and the fact that each character has her own independent life, but also a shared life with the other characters, showed a thoughtful framework of the book.

Yes, I think "girl power" maybe isn't quite the right word.

Yep, but I can see where others are coming from, given the available options :)

Like many of you, I think friendship is the strongest theme in this book. Girl power is an outdated phrase that even my six year old granddaughter would correct. The building of true friendship between people of different backgrounds and ages was one of the most enjoyable parts of the book.

I believed this book was centered around team work, sisterhood and girl power. Grr hear us roar.

I agree. I think friendship, not necessarily girl power, was the dominant theme. It wasn't one of these books where women were asserting themselves. The story could have just as easily been a bunch of male friends who bond and get together to share a hobby.
Agreed! Nothing more to say!!

I equally feel that the theme of girl power overshadow the other themes since the story hinges upon the five women character

I think it's all about friendship not really girl power. I believe in the importance of having girl friends around you who is always ready to empower you..

I think girl power, but also friendship. It was also important in the book.

I agree and would like to grant your wish but it is beyond my control. 😀

Okay... Girl Power is the nearest option.

The story was very much of a bond, a camaraderie between the protagonists. I would not impose my votes on the girl power as it would ruin the basic purpose of the tale. The true spirit lies in the undaunted companionship they shared, which is inspiring.
