Those that disliked the book: What displeased you?

Post by Teddyquam »

A lot of people, myself included loved 'The Reel Sisters'. However, what is some constructive criticism in your opinion, especially from those who disliked the novel?
Do you ever feel like you spend too much time reading? Yeah. Me neither.

I didn't dislike the novel, but in terms of constructive criticism, I do have a point to add. The novel seems to peter along for up to about three-quarters of its length, then the ending seems slightly rushed. Maybe more obstacles could have been placed in the first part, or Cummings could have tried varying the chapter lengths to make it move along a little faster? The disparity between the two segments is kind of noticeable.

I didn't really get a clear direction of the book other than watching the lives of five different women. Just like Barbara said, the book ended abruptly. That's what you get if there isn't a conflict to handle in a fiction book.

In my opinion, the book was very messy and didn't really lead anywhere, so it was challenging for me to connect to any of the characters or enjoy the plot. I felt like I was reading an unedited, rough draft of a poorly structured story that otherwise had potential if written differently. Also, the jokes were unfunny and rarely landed.

Yes! That is what happened, although I really liked the positive vibes and uplifting women, there wasn't a single situation that needed handiling but instead we got five... so it wasn't all bad...

The only thing I disliked about this book was that the conversation in this book was too lengthy. Other than that, I loved the book
