I have to agree with some of the others who felt the janitor inspired them. I tend to be drawn to people who challenge me by pushing me outside my little safe bubble/ safe space. It's easy for me to want to feel secure and become to afraid to venture out into areas that are unfamiliar or challenging. I, myself, tend to need people who push me so I connected a lot with the janitor's role in the book.

Aunt Theresa.
Why?
Because it is easy to do some acts of kindness, to give one out of the two i have; even to share half of the one i have. But to take pain instead on behalf of another is never easy. To do this repeatedly must be even harder.
It must have hurt her more, she who understood what being an old maid meant and whose life had been ruined by it, it must have hurt her more than it hurt the author. To him the teasing of his sisters was merely upsetting. To Aunt Theresa very likely, those words turned and pushed at the knife buried deep within her.

To take pain for others isn't always possible but when it is, it is one of the most beautiful acts of love.

For me my favorite guru is Aunt Theresa. She gladly accepts to be the old maid and withstand the laughter and mocking from Ron and his siblings as much as they were suppressing her spirit. She takes the shame of walking to the store every time they want to play cards so that Ron can have the advantage of opening the box. She teaches Ron of being loving and compassionate and always be willing to stand up for others just to make them happy.

Dr. Tucker is my favorite character. He did the unexpected with great compassion for the confused Rob.

Aunt Theresa. She made me love the whole book, even if she was just in the first chapter. She was the biggest lesson in the book and what made me want to read faster, to see if I might see a character like her.

Gotta go with Margaret. I love the way she just blurts out "Isn't my red dress great?" and I liked the lesson he learned from it. We really are all in our own little worlds and it's helpful to realize that. I reviewed the book -- gave it 3 stars.

I enjoy Peter because, for me, that was the biggest lesson of the book. The power of decision and how can achieve everything is we really want to.

Many of 'ordinary gurus' were quite extraordinary in the lessons they taught us. Aunt Theresa, Mr. Lampkin, Carol, The British Co-passenger, and finally Peter were my favourites.

My favorite ordinary guru in the book, was the guy whom the author happens to meet by chance, during a bull race competition! He accidently came in the physical contact of the author, for support during the race! The author felt disturbed but saw a person standing behind, in a relaxed state of mind. His gestures told the author that he was enjoying every moment of the race! This taught the author about the 'art of life' i.e. enjoying every bit of what is happening in life!

My favourite was Peter (the last guru). I loved his insistency that he wasn't going to die. I also loved the Aunt because she was very selfless.

Aunt Teresa actually stood out among the other ordinary gurus. Her values truly influenced the author. I too loved her selflessness.
