If the theme of bravery is a recurring theme, then, wouldn't the themes of cowardice and fear be recurring too?

I'd say bildungsroman, or a coming of age story was prominent as well. These themes work well since it's structured for the protagonist to learn and develop as the plot unfolds. The problem is when the author shows the character having learned a skill or lesson early on, and the character becomes almost a "Mary Sue" where they can do no wrong. But this book pulls it off, well.

The different nations and the battling reminded me of World War II with the Allies and the Axis.

Honestly, the reader already knows what to expect by reading the title "End of the Last Great Kingdom" and it's quite easy to identify the main themes, such as bravery, love, friendship and most importantly - finding inner strength.

Bravery, faith, trust, love, betrayal. There are many themes in the book that I really liked. The author manages to portray them well.

The novel seems to have more layers than I expected. I have been meaning to read it but somehow it is stuck in my library and I can't read it because of one thing or another. The multi-layered story is making this novel even more interesting. I hope I can catch up soon with it.

Bravery, loyalty and perseverance looked like the main things to me. The way Brimstone makes his way, surviving the trial in the beginning, and all those things that come later. It was about continuing against all odds, for me.

My favorite themes were bravery and loyalty. I think the real world needs more of that.

I’d have to agree.

From what I have read, it seems like there is a major consensus that the theme of bravery is the most recognized from the story. It just makes me wonder a bit though as bravery in fantasy books (heroic types) are pretty universally recognized as such, but in other circumstances bravery ends up being quite a subjective quality to rate.

The theme that struck me the most in the book was that of social inequality. My reference is - in particular - to the school of mages. The school did provide basic education to most learners. However, the best benefits were reserved for the richest of the lot. That just hurts my sense of justice.

Bravery and friendship are some of the major themes that stand out.

I feel like the book didn't have much themes, which made it easy to read and understand. Rather, the few themes in it were expanded in many ways than one to highlight their importance and presence, such as the "bravery" theme.
