I do not mind sex scenes when I read, but this book started with such promise. I really wanted to know more about the Syndos and the Naturals! Then I was like, okay, let's follow Jennifer. It was a good story when she survived on the island and I was wondering how she'd blend in and if her amnesia lie would work, but once she got to Hawaii the novel felt more like erotic fiction than science fiction except for a few conversations. I was very disappointed. The sex scenes did not really help the plot along, they just took the focus from what could have been a good story.

I agree with this completely. The book had a lot of promise, it just never quite delivered once the focus shifted solely to Jennifer.

I ended up not reading all the way through because it felt like it was constantly having sex scenes that were to descriptive for my liking. It was a little disturbing that one minute their having family time with the kids, and the next their having a threesome or talking about it.

While I'm all for having romantic interests and sex included in a story, having too many sex scenes can definitely take away the emphasis and the overall impact of the story line. I, unfortunately, think that this is the case here

Arguably, Jennifer has a healthy sexual appetite and the sex scenes were a main theme. However, several main themes including marine ecology and quantum physics were juxtaposed in a way that didn't flow well. In essence there was no strong main plot for them to detract from!
This post was brought to you by the word "specifically".

The sex scenes were more than needed to show Jennifer's liberal nature. That part could be reduced.

It almost felt like once you got to the second half of the book that there was a chapter about the story, then a sex scene, then a chapter, then a sex scene. Was everyone in that place sex crazy and bisexual??? Certainly seemed so...

While I think that a good steamy sex scene can add to the story and the characters, too many is not always a good thing. I feel the author went a little overboard with it in this book and that took away from the story a bit. It became an annoyance towards the end of the book. I felt like 'really? another sex scene?' Less is definitely more when it comes to scenes like this.

The book was somewhat broken into sections. Science fiction future world, adjusting to a new time, life and sex, and a quick wrapup of all the loose ends?

I totally agree with you, Brandi Noelle. The explicit scenes in this book are unnecessarily so much that they eclipsed even its sci-fi angle. Yes, "purposeless" is the word!

I don't like sex scenes in my books. I have not read this book and don't think I will ever read.

I think that is an oversimplification. Yes the sex scenes seemed over the top, but would we attribute the same statement when referring to a man's libido?
