I think that there is a certain place for some / many of the scenes, but it may perhaps have been overdone a little bit. One question an author has to ask themselves before added an explicit scene (in my opinion) is, "what does this add to the story." If the answer is nothing, one shouldn't add it.

I felt like the book started out well and I was excited at the ideas presented. But not much longer into the book and my interest started to wain. The writing seemed choppy and somewhat juvenile. And the sex scenes really started to get on my nerves. They were just too much, and did not contribute to the story; in fact they detracted from it.

The sex scenes and offers of sex were plentiful to say the least. For me, they distracted from the plot. I got bored of them and eventually anytime I saw something explicit I wanted to skip that paragraph.

The scenes were my main interest in the book, sorry not sorry to say lol . But I did come to think they were just too many to keep up with after a while.

I quite agree with a lot of what's being said here. A number of sex scenes were unnecessary and didn't add anything to the plot in my opinion. To use this as tactics to sell books is also an idea I abhor personally.

I must say that the explicit scenes are overemphasized especially in the second half part of this book.
Even in a group reading some of the participants would feel uncomfortable.

I find the explicit scenes in the book very unnecessary as well as unrealistic. They are overdone and make the plot unattractive to me, not exciting in anyway.

I am a lover of erotic fiction so I would say that they did add to the story. The group sex aspect went beyond what I am used to but I found it worked in the story.

I think the explicit scenes were too much, a couple of scenes would have been enough to draw the readers' attention. However, when you have too much of it it becomes boring.

I'm personally not one for explicit scenes anyways, and I usually skim them. But there were so many in this book and sometimes they felt out of place or unnecessary.

The sexual scenes were not making any sense and are a negative point in the book's favour. I would not like to see such controversial books as the BOTM.

Very true. After awhile, it was far too commonplace. I also find it odd that so many of the characters were okay with significant others engaging in sexual acts so often with other people. Open relationships are nothing new. But, every single person isn't okay with it. It's too unrealistic, even for fiction.

Exactly! very odd, indeed. I also agree with your point on the author wanting to reel in different audiences by adding the erotica factor to a tale of time travel.

I felt most of the time the sex scenes were not necessary. It was understandable once, but at some point it seemed like every woman Jennifer encountered wanted to have sex with her. I get more people are open to this sort of thing, but it seemed like EVERYONE she met was into her, and into threesomes or foursomes. I didn't care for it. For me it just didn't serve the plot. The only one which felt like it did serve plot, was Lacy. It's hinted at earlier with Lacy, who kind of discovers her sexuality and becomes more confident. Even the bit with Erita and Ian felt out of place, since Erita said Ian wasn't as into it as she was.

The explicit scenes were definitely exaggerated and unnecessary, to a point that it made the story unrealistic.
