Explicit Scenes

I think the point of them was to show that 2015 wasn't as uptight regarding sexual preferences as Jennifer originally thought it would be. But the number of encounters she was having got to the point where it was almost comical. Suddenly everyone she had met wanted to have sex with her. It was unrealistic and the scenes weren't even written very well. This isn't an exact quote because I didn't write it down, but one of the characters says to Jennifer something like "okay, I think we should have sex now" kind of just out of nowhere. The scenes just didn't flow naturally and I feel like some of them were added for shock value more than anything else.

I think it detracts from a book when the explicit scenes are too many and unnatural.

Unnatural is the right word. In real life hope it is not natural to see such activities.

At least not at the rate they occur in the book

This is felt by most of us as well. It's some good feedback for the book to improve.

Rightly said, it should always have other things happening or it should take the story forward.

Alot of explicit scenes don't bother me, if that's what i'm expecting going into the book. I get my wine and my snuggle and get ready to be entertained! If I'm expecting there to really be plot, and depth and dynamic, than the amount of scenes would have been too much. I was expecting explicit scenes since it gave that disclaimer on the description on amazon, so I kind of knew what i was getting into.

I was expecting there to be explicit scenes also, because I did read the disclaimer, just not so many. The scenes also didn’t add anything to the plot, or drive the story forward.

I think they added a bit to the plot but the author overdid them.

I think since this book deals with the whole aspect of humans (naturals) as opposed to the robotic species, then we should celebrate our humaness. One good way is by the author incorporating these scenes.

Not all the relationships or explicit scenes in the book were necessary or relevant. But even the one relationship that was important- the one with Marty was not handled well. The scenes were not written well-- there was a lack of emotion somehow. I think the scenes were an unnecessary distraction from the main plot.
