Exactly, she brought out very strong traits, she might not have discovered without the experience.

Through experiences like that, we are able to better connect ourselves to the land of our people and the purpose we hold in protecting it. Especially as people with American Indian heritage.

I believe it made a great deal of difference to the bond in the grandfather's relationship with his granddaughter and himself. I hope to see more of this develop in the next book.

I believe she was strong enough, as a child, or she would not have survived it. Native American have had fasting ceremonies for many thousands of years. Dreams like these would come about to help guide that young or old one seeking understanding. I believe children are very resilient and can survive much- although it usually was/is their own choice if they go to fast, in some tribes.
Yea, it did make her a better person

At first, what happened to Sarah for me was too much for a child to bear. I don't think in real life someone will survive something like that. But it helped her so much develop her character in the story. It made her understood the reasons why the trip was important to her grandfather. At first, for her it was just a simple camping trip to return back something that actually belonged there.

It is true that the experience during the period of her disappearance was too much for a child to bear. However, it made her better and even the skills gained helped the group later. Her skill came in handy when it was needed.

She seemed more grown up after and more confident in herself. I do think that her disappearance should have been cut back shorter.

Honestly, I did not buy her adventure tale. Mainly because the author writes that she had disappeared for 8 days, but Sarah's story seemed like she was gone for several years. It helped bringing her a bit close to her grandfather, but I did not appreciate that part of the story.

Yes, I think Sarah’s missing bring them close in a way. Because she felt that Tom think about her and waited fro her so long. But the whole going missing and finding that crew and fighting with animals are too much for a kid and its good to be real. But I liked the story.

Obviously, if this would have happened in real life, the experience would have been traumatizing for the child. Or the child would probably not even survive 8 days alone in the wilderness. But for the story, it was an essential part and definitely made Sarah more interesting as a character.

I think Sarah managed to find some type of inner peace when she went away. The worry that her family experienced is to be considered, yes, but she was able to grow stronger because of it. As to whether she was old enough to go through that (or should have gone through that) is debatable, but I think she was mature enough to have done so.

Her disappearance was good ultimately, but her grandfather had to be worried when this happened. I was able to see how strong she was during her disappearance. This was no easy thing for a little girl her age. So, it was good.
