But I thought you said you enjoyed this part of the book and Sarah's story more?Amagine wrote:I completely agreeGingerbo0ks wrote:I would say I felt exactly the same. Yeah, it appears so. I attribute that to the slow development of the plot.jonaya wrote:at first I thought Sarah will not be the main character and I could focus much on Tom and what will Ruth do at the later stage but that changed when Tom started comparing her with her aunt Myrah. So Sarah journey was like from nobody to somebody

I agree! There were too many characters introduced in a short space of time.Mallory Whitaker wrote:It was very descriptive. I found all of the nautical talk exhausting though. I thought it disrupted the pacing too much for me to really be scared for her. I found it a little hard to follow, especially in the beginning. I had no idea what was happening and the names and characters were hard for me to keep track of. As they got narrowed down though, it got easier.

You have a strong point.Atabon Della wrote:Sarah did a great job at describing her journey and the subsequent adventures. In fact this is one of the things that made me think that the character was a little too much for a teen of her age. How could she tell all the story so coherently? Very descriptive in her narration.

My thoughts exactly! I am directionally challenged, so all of the authors cardinal direction descriptions had me completely lost! I also had a hard time transitioning to the visionary sequence the first time it happened. I had to re-read the first page of the chapter a couple times to get my bearings straight. I did, however, feel the intensity in the last scene of her visionary sequence when the bears attacked and killed all but a few of them. I remember holding my breath while reading that part!Mallory Whitaker wrote:It was very descriptive. I found all of the nautical talk exhausting though.
