How did you feel about Sarah in the beginning?

I thought she acted exactly as one would expect a young teenager who had been pushed from pillar to post to act. I did find it hard to pin point her age, I'm not sure this was mentioned straight away?

I did find her rude, but I'm not sure that the reader is supposed to enjoy her character right from the beginning anyway.

That could be true. Maybe she was supposed to be unlikable at first.

Witty kid and an absolute representation of the modern generation with hidden past. I like the way she could stand for herself even if she was a bit rude, it just proved that she had learned from her experience with her step father and step brother not to easily trust people.

Anyway, I also felt that Sarah was a spoiled brat in the beginning. She redeemed herself a little layer though.

Right away, she came across as a major brat. But can you blame her? The whole situation of getting dumped on your grandparents then forced onto the other one has got to be hard.

in the beginning I really felt sorry for her life as I thought it will be hard for her to coup up with life considering the fact that she had no where to go and the only hope was Ruth which also abandoned her the time she needed her most

I can't remember when they mentioned Sarah's exact age, but when she arrived in the first chapter, it was guessed that she was 12 or 13.

You may be right about the reader not enjoying her character right away. I guess because I disliked her in the beginning, it made her growth more apparent.

At the beginning I felt that she is a spoilt child. Later on with her she strong and capable of anything that comes her way.Iwas sympathetic to her aftrer learning she was an orphan.

I think I always felt bad for her about her situation. But, I was also annoyed with her treatment towards Tom, William, and Myra in the beginning. Once she and Tom came around to trusting each other a bit more, you could really see the difference in both of them.
