Definitely a visionary. I believed she had a purpose for doing what she did.

My mother used to tell me growing up, that some of the most intuitive individuals are also disturbed or troubled to some aspect. I think this theory personally fits with Sarah, who seems to have had a lot of disturbance in her life ( young Mitch, Fletcher, jerk step dad, etc.). I think she was intuitive, which would also explain the ability for her to have "visions" or spiritual experiences, in addition to being a visionary I guess you could say.

Imagination and vision must have gone hand in hand to ensure her survival. To learn skills such as that imagination must have not been the only thing that kept her going.

But I believe you start out with imagination, once you let it free and never try to stay inside the box, you start to develop as a visionary and extend your horizon with a tinge of love for exploration and curiosity. I think that was her case and that is why she seems like both.
This is a really beautiful thought. I have to agree with you on this

She was possessed by the knowledge of an ancestral spirit, and that's what gave her the survival skills and intellect she needed.

It is only vision that can be accomplished. It set one into motion and action.

She was a visionary, I really think she was able to be in contact with her ancestors and the stories that once happened in that place.

I agree, Sarah, had an experience, a vision to cross time and space. I have heard of other accounts of similar skills acquired and attributed to traumatic events, fasting, deep prayer, and others. With the research the author did into the local tribes, I am not surprised that this type of situation was added to the plot. It is common for tribespeople to go on vision quests and to come back with humility and knowledge that did not have before.

I am still perplexed just like Bob how it happened because the story sounds so real yet it is hard to believe it. However, I believe that she was visionary.

Wow, very deep and profound statements here. I never knew that it can happen but I think they do.

I agree, and I couldn't have said it any better.

Because of the ending and the elaborate detail I think she visioned it.
