Wow, judging from the pictures, it seems like a beautiful place to visit! I've never been but I wouldn't mind going.

Thank you @Gravy very beautiful, indeed! I lived in the Pacific Northwest for about 20 years, but had not been to the Peninsula area. It is just a gorgeous as I had imagined.

I agree that the author was very descriptive with with the setting. His descriptions match the images that we see.

Weird question.

Was I the only one who thought of the book (and movie), "Twilight." The setting was in Washington . There were called the Olympic wilderness and there were also lots of trees...

Sorry random moment though lol

I saw a nature show about the area years ago, and I've thought it's one of the most beautiful places on earth ever since. The author's descriptions did my memory justice - they were evocative.

Twilight takes place in Forks, Washington. I would say that it is also considered to be part of the Olympic Peninsula Wilderness area.

I have not been there but it seems like it would be an amazing place to visit! I love it when authors incorporate actual places into their stories - it brings the plot to life in a way that is unique to that particular setting.

I agree, especially when the author researches the area to be sure it is accurately portrayed.

What a wonderful portrayal of a real place! The author took the reader to the beauty and reality of a place that will not be visited otherwise. Now, that is good writing!

I have never been to this place. But not able to resist a hiking trip to the Olympic myself after reading this book.

Twilight was also filmed in and around Forks, so that's another way to see and appreciate this beautiful area.
Technically, Forks is outside the national park, but very close, as you can see here:Image

The Cullens's very own personal hunting grounds.

Though, I would assume, still lots of non-park woodlands!
