I agree. The BOTM forum definitely fosters discussion and gets people sharing thoughts and ideas. It's good exposure for the book, too. I don't think Strong Heart would have been a book I would have chosen on my own.

I wouldn't have read it on my own either.

I think the themes are friendship as Tom and Willliam are friends and Sarah and Myra also.The theme of love between Myra and Sergei.The theme of conflicts relations between Sarah and Tom and between Tom and Myra.

Culture is definitely the most prominent theme for me. The centers around the heritage of the native Americans. It follows their history, ancestry and even to an extent try to argue they are one of the oldest races (I would argue that fact).

Mysticism is a recurring theme, like in Sarah's story and like with the eagles that the author always write about, they always circle over the character in important scenes.
