The Expansion - THE MOVIE!

Post by aussiebooklover »

When I read "The Expansion" I had the impression to see scenes from a movie. Personally I hope one day this will actually happen - I think it would be a great story for the big screen.
What do you think?

I really enjoyed reading the book, so I support your idea. This book can be a great movie in the big screen.

Most likely, as has happened to books that have become movies, it disappoints i.e 50 shades of grey, the intensity and intricate details present in the hardcopy/book is lost which is sad but then understandable because any movie that gives us exactly what is in the book would last probably a week and be difficult to watch especially in the cinema. I so I hope for your sake the movie will be at least 6/10 compared to the book

I think you might be on to something here. Normally I would say no, but I think the basic premise of the book could be used for a movie script. In fact, I think the story might play out better in movie format than in book format. A lot of revisions would have to be made, though.

While I enjoyed reading the book I don't really know if this would be all that interesting on the big screen. I guess I just don't know what it would add. Something tells me it would probably get oversexualized.

I enjoyed reading this book, however, I don't think I could see this as a movie. As mentioned before, It would probably fail miserably like other books to movies.

I'm not sure it would make a good movie, i mean the plot and some scenes did feel like a movie but most book to movie adaptations this days change too much of the story and aren't as good as they cool so if The Expansion became a book it might be a flop.

I think it would make a good movie. But I guess it really depends on a good screen writer who can adapt it for the screen. Sometimes they change the story too much to make a movie and it’s less interesting. It would be interesting to see if they do make it into a movie

There isn't a whole lot of actual action (I.e. fight scenes) in The Expansion, so I get the feeling that if it were ever adapted for the silver screen there would be a lot of changes made to make it either completely an action thriller or not an action thriller at all. Of course, change isn't necessarily a bad thing, and I would be interested in seeing if Martin's ideas were improved upon.

I think the prologue would lend itself wonderfully to visual adaptation. The helicopter crash and Max's reaction are very raw.

I enjoyed the book very much and believe it can be adapted into an interesting movie, with the involvement of a talented screen writer.

I think the book would be very successful as a film.
