I also consider being with family members especially during special occasion as a luxury.

I'll pick family anytime, anyday. What's a luxurious life without family? There's no satisfaction in that.

Being with family is the best form of luxury anyone can enjoy. Maybe it doesn't seem so to very young people who want to travel the world or build their career, but being a part of family or, even better, having your own is amazing.

I would pick family. Life is never easy and If I had a choice i'd pick them both, but at the end, family is all that matters.

Whereas I rate family very high, I want both family and luxury. After all a normal human being works towards living a comfortable life. What is luxury without a family to share with and who prefers a family full of struggles or abject poverty?

Family. I've turned down promotions because I know it would require significantly more travel and destroy my schedule flexibility even when I'm home. I make a good living--I don't need to chase something that would limit my ability to enjoy it.

Of course it has to be family. Choosing luxury over family is a classical recipe for lifelong loneliness and misery. A balance would be best though, if available.

We all like to think that of course, family is more important. We like to think that while we sit on our soft couch watching our favorite show on television, or eating a wonderful dinner surrounded by children or family and friends. But try surviving for one day without a roof over our head, or living out of a car, and it becomes clear that we do place value on our luxury. For those of us who live in America, even those who live out of their car, it is still a better way of life than thousands of those elsewhere on this planet. The opportunity still exists to better ourselves, unlike those in third world countries. So, could we survive in a third world country? Sure. After all, you only need water and food to keep alive. We live in luxury compared to many others. The real question, the real test, is this: do you work enough to take care of your needs so that you can spend time with your family? Or do you give up family time to work more; overtime that can pay for things you only want, and not need. We all know family is more important. You can get another job, but people are not replaceable. But what do your actions show about your real priorities?

I would chose family, but I think it is also important to have great comfort within life as well, which is what I think of when I think of luxury. I don't see it as having money or living large, but even still I think that the discomfort that comes with arguments within a family are worth it. Regardless of how I apply the definition to my life of luxury, family takes my vote every single time.

Family definitely comes first. Luxury has always been one of those deferred gratification things you save for and seldom get.

At the end of the day, your family and friends are the ones who will be by your side. Luxuries will come and go. I believe you can go after luxuries without giving up your family but should never abandon your family for luxuries.
