I would have to say that it depends on how you define "luxury." I mean, I think we are meant to leave family in many ways. We are meant to stake out on our own and experience live independently. When one is an empath from a family comprised mostly of narcissists and tragically complaisant figures, it is often in one's best interest to seek freedom. Not being manipulated, emotionally abused, or ignored entirely can be a form of "luxury," itself.

The family all the way. Luxury by itself does not guarantee happiness.

Family..most definitely. What to do with luxury when one has no one to share it with?

Without a doubt family is most important to me. Without the support of my family I would have nothing.

I think we all agree family is better, since the most important things in life aren't things.

It depends on what kind of family you have. Some people have very toxic or abusive relationships with their family members that they are better off and happier alone. In my opinion family is more important, because living in luxury alone would feel hollow.

Family wins without a second thought. All the riches in the world cannot compare to the joy of seeing a youngster's developmental milestones or experiencing the magic moment when a child marries and becomes a parent.

I just finished reading (and reviewing) Mining for Alaskan Adventures, which tells the story of a family moving into rather spartan conditions in the Alaskan wilderness to mine for gold. It's not explored in detail, but it does not appear there was a second when the family considered living apart while the mining operation was productive in the warm months. The family was in it together--presumably in a search for the luxury that gold might provided.

Luxury is nice but family is more important. If we don't have family then we loose a lot. Those relationships are usually stronger than almost anything you find anywhere else. What good is the luxury if you can't spend it with the people you love most?!

Money is just paper with no value in itself. People and family are the real asset. Money cant bury you when you die.

That is so true! there is no point in living a comfy life and not share it with anyone.

Material things are not important to me. I prefer to be more of a minimalist and enjoy experiences rather than things. My family is definitely the most important.

I think having a constant in your life is important and what's more constant than family? Blood ties never die. Wealth can be stolen or lost. All the money in the world won't make you happy if you don't have people to share it with.

Family. Luxury consists of non-living objects, they can not feel your emotions or display emotions, therefore, when life hits you, you are going to need real people to lean on and seek out for support. Some people can handle being alone in such situations, fair enough, but what about in times of happiness? Achievements, successes and happy moments multiply when shared with others. Celebrating alone is often tasteless. Although this support can be achieved by friends but I believe that family loves you unconditionally without waiting for a return.
Imagination Trumps Reality.

I believe family should always be more important. They are the ones that you will be able to turn to when everything else is gone.
