You put the words out of my mouth! Yes, respect is reciprocal. It doesn't start on how much you earned or the power you hold. It starts and ends with you.

Some people still disrespect someone even with money and power. But with someone who knows the things that he/she capable of, that particular person would just shrug it off and wouldn't care a damn thing.

Power and pride are lovely pearls but it still can't outshine dignity and self-respect.

Well, it always depends on the person's character rather than money. For example, a poor person who still finds in his heart the generosity to help others will always command more respect than a rich snob who hates everyone.

Of course. There's still a lot of good and smart people out there who will see people for what they actually are despite all the bells and whistles of money or fame.

Respect and honor can be both be earned through the way you act. And if you only respect someone simply because he is powerful, and not at all because of his character, isn't that bordering fear already?

Power and money are earned so is respect and honour. Therefore they require efforts from an individual without which you can't have them.

I think that even in today's world it is still possible to be respectable and respectful, even without money.
