Journalism is my favorite, I usually did it since childhood. And helps, it makes me laugh when I read it again.

Yup. Your journal reminds you of your innocent, honest mistakes in the past.

I enjoy binge writing in a diary. I will dispose of all pent up feelings and issues and feelings, good or bad, and splatter it into a diary all in one night, and then I leave it be and wait until I am feeling suffocated with words again and repeat. So, no I don't keep a diary per say, but I do go through and dump words onto paper every now and then and leave it until next time. (:

This is an excellent way of venting negative emotions especially if there is no one to talk to.

I've started my art journal recently, but as a child, I also kept a diary. When I read it now, many years later, it's amazing to see my thoughts as a child. They were all full of positivity and with an optimistic vision of future. Some things don't change, but a lot of them do so it's a great idea to keep a diary and store it somewhere safely. Open it twenty years later and it will be amazing to read it.

I think I keep some sort of diary. It's not the kind where I write 'dear diary' and tell my story. It's the kind where I write 'Dear God' and fill it up with my tears and pains. And when I'm done, I sign 'your daughter' and I feel much better. It's not because I can't talk to God directly. It's because writing is the best way I express myself. And when I come back months or years later to read what I wrote in pain, I feel relieved because it shows just how far I've come.

I tried several times in my childhood and teenage years, but it never really caught on. I'm not really the consistent type.

I like to keep diary, but I actually don't hold on to it for a long time. I start and then stop, think I need more discipline in that area. It is actually a beautiful thing to do.

I do keep a diary in which I write in everyday or almost everyday. I like to write things in my diary that are my inner most thoughts and feelings about my day. I think that it is hard to keep up a journal or diary, but easy to start one. I have had multiple times where I start a journal and then I become busy and forget about it.

Yes, but I never seem to write all the way to the end of the journal. I just bought a bunch of journals and my goal is to finish every one. I'm close to completing the first journal. I love keeping track of my thought and feelings, current events, and whatever my family did that day. I think its especially important to record your own history so someday in the future people will know you existed.

I don't keep any journal but I see from plenty of posts in this thread that it's a really positive (perhaps even therapeutic) thing to do. What I do keep, though, is a book of memories- it's obviously nice to reminisce about days gone by & when I write down these memories in as much detail as possible I also feel like I'm exercising my mind. Does anyone else do that?

I tried to keep a journal many times but abandoned it. However, I occasionally write down my problems as it helps me understand them better.
