A demanding but very caring person. He's just one of the finest masterpiece of what a father is.

My mom always says that she has four children, but I only have two siblings, lol. My father can do just about anything that requires construction or mechanical knowledge.
She reads books
as one would breathe air,
to fill up and live.

My dad is my hero. He's the most selfless and loving person I know. I live in a small town and no lie, if you say my dad's name it is always followed with a, "I LOVE him" (or an "Okay, we'll let you off this time but don't speed"). I'm truly blessed to have a dad like him.

Anytime, I look at my father, it dawns on me that I'm looking at my future:that I'll have such responsibilities someday, and this changes the way I look at him. He's is what I hope to be someday...
To be without some of the things you want is an indispensable part of happiness.

Kind. Wise. Trustworthy. A role model. Someone who sacrifices his wishes for his family.

My dad has always been my guidance. He was not the disciplinarian in the house when I grew up. He was my playmate, my mentor, role model and confidant. He taught me to be independent and gave me the skills for survival. He is kind, wise, strong and loving. Today he is my best friend.

An honest, strong man with fantastic morals and takes care of those he loves. Thoughtful and kind and blooming crazy. 'Off his rocker' as we Brits say :) Nothing sane about him and wouldn't change him for the world.

I don't think there's any such thing as an ideal father. There's really never a perfect person. My dad is difficult, old fashioned and frustrating sometimes. But he's one of the best things to ever happen to me. He's always been around and though he doesn't always know how to show it, he really loves his family. I probably couldn't have gotten a better dad.

The most hardworking and dedicated man I ever knew.
“Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it's a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it's a way of making contact with someone else's imagination after a day that's all too real.”

He's a very hard man when he gets into an argument with either me or my brothers. He tries to do his best for us, but at times he will go too far, to the point where we just shut down. He's completely the opposite with the patients at the hospital. I wished he'd talk to us like that, but he doesn't. Still, he try to give us advice, even though he might sound a bit preachy from time to time. Still, living with him under the same roof can be intoxicating.

An ideal father is someone who lets his child feel that he is loved, safe, and secure. To someone, there is always be an ideal father depending on someone's orientation or personality.

Excitedreads wrote:My father is a sperm donor... he was around for a couple of years in my life and then, well he disappeared. For reasons between my mom and him. But over the years I've reached out to him and have realised he's the best liar I've ever met, he can cry on cue, and the man could gamble the socks off his feet.
Wondeful daddy huh..? i'm glad some of you have had great, thoughtful fathers. Mine just wasn't or should i say isn't one

I'm sorry for your experience with your dad. You write really well although your post is sad there is humor to be found in it - like when you said "he can cry on cue, and the man could gamble the socks of his feet" I found that particularly funny even though it's sad.
Hope he changes to be a better man and eventually a becomes a good dad to you.
