Both have advantage and disadvantage. The recent one may be a cliche but a re-imagination of the idea, and the other one a classic but hard to read writing style. Still both of them will find their way creeping into our hearts. :D

I think it depends on the book, whether its appreciated by a lot of people or not, and what the plot is about, etc. It doesn't matter whether its old or new.

Both of them, because both contain equal adventures and knowledge..... The old ones are a little bit classy

I read books I like no matter they are old or new. But I do find that old books are a bit harder to understand in term of many ways. For example, the language may be different.

Absolutely BOTH! I actually find it comforting to reread the old-fashioned books that I have, and I like the added challenge of digesting classics.

But I also like keeping up with what's new in my favorite genres. When I read older books, I'm usually reading by myself. :D When I read newer books, it's more like reading in a group, since there's usually someone else nearby who's reading it at the same time.

I would read any good book but I do have a great fascination for the classics, although I must admit that a lot of the older English works can be unbearably wordy.
Many of the more recent ones are also masterpieces in themselves so I think one should have a fair share of both.

I like both, but given the choice to pick one, I will go for newly published ones because books recently written will most likely touch on modern issues.

I love both. Old books makes me relive the past and remind me how much the world has changed.

Old are good but one has to read recent books to remain conversant with the current writing methods

I enjoy newer books, but I have always enjoyed the classics more than anything else. Some of my favorites are A Christmas Carol, Pride & Prejudice, The Time Machine, and Wuthering Heights.

I prefer both. It really depends on the specific book and what I'm in the mood for at the time.

I'm an equal opportunity reader. :) Sometimes I'll finish a book and be surprised at how long ago it was published. There are a lot of Little Free Libraries in my area and I also buy a lot of books from thrift stores, so many times the books are older ones. I feel like a good story never goes out of style.

I like old books but of late, I've found myself gravitating towards newly published books.

I really don't care how recently the book was published, as long as it's interesting enough to read. I have read the oldies like Pride and Prejudice and Count of Monte Cristo, and also new releases like The Bloodlines Series by Richelle Mead.
