She definitely is more than she appears to be. One of those people who become very dependable in life.

I think Sofia started out as a prostitute. Using her talents, I think she rose up through the ranks to run the business. Her place of business rents rooms for sex and she makes her cut. When she is given the chance to get out, I think she didn't take because she had worked to hard to get to where she was, and didn't want to give it up. There is also an element of independence, if she had given it up, she would effectively returned to be just another common prostitute.

I felt the same about her

Nice one. Sofia is an example of a strong woman who is trying to beat the odds.

This is what I thought of Sofia, too. It would be pretty interesting if she was another undercover agent, though. She did have some useful information gathering skills.

I agree with Ren B. That's what I thought too.

Sofia may be a high priced prostitute and madam of a push button brothel, but she is also an intelligent woman who has connections and wields a certain power from the information she garners from the illicit affairs of powerful people. She knows how to leverage the information to her own ends. I recall she didn't need any explanation of Godfredo's business with the canal when he asked; she already knew what he was doing and that he had the money to pay triple her fee. Every city has a seedy underside and I would guess she might be a power within it.
