I think that's true, and everyone has a different reason for wearing that mask.

I've definitely met people who turned out to be nothing like they appeared. Some because I misjudged them, some because they wanted me to think they were someone they weren't.

Haha, all the time. It's a common thing people aren't always what they appear to be.

In my experience, people are kind of amorphous and the facets of their personalities come out to play depending on the occasion. I'm like this, everyone is like this.

Hmm. Yes. Some who seem kind or nice but are really out for themselves. But also some decent kind people who I mistook for dishonest initially.

Don't judge a book by its cover, as they say.

Its so rare to meet someone and know the real him/her for the first few times. most people wear masks when meeting new people. You never want the other person to see parts of you that you think they will resent, especially if its important to you that they like you.

I once knew a guy in college. He would be friendly at first and seemed really cool. But once he became good friends(which is when people really start to open up), he would just tell this story to everyone about his ex-girlfriend who broke up with him when he was on his way to get an eye-operation. At first we sympathised with him and all. But then we came to know that he was a liar. The girl who used to point out as his ex, didn't even know him. And all the stories he used to share about him were total and complete lies! I think he had some kind of disorder because why would someone lie about themselves? But slowly everyone understood his true nature and we intentionally drifted away from him.

Yes. People change but with time their true colors are revealed.

So many people. I feel like in there are so many people who are pressurised to present themselves as someone who they aren't for many reasons. Be it for societal pressure or to get someone to like them or for a job, the list goes on. But I think everyone has once in their lifetime pretended to be a very different person than their actual persona.

I agree with most others here. All of us are wearing masks most of the time when we interact with one another. Sometimes it is even for a good cause, since we understand that the truth may hurt the person in front. White lies too therefore keep us away from where we actually stand.

I think everyone wears different masks for different situations. We all want to present our best, most appropriate face. A person often acts much differently on their job than they do with their family and friends. We often paint our own picture of who we think someone is based on how little we may know about them.

True. I agree . Everyone has a monster too hidden in a far away corner.

Absolutely yes! Usually, it was some guy I had a crush on in my younger years. I fell in love with them based on what I imagined them to be. When I finally quit liking them, I realized they were a completely different person than the person I had imagined and fallen in love with.

I agree. We tend to decide every minute of the day who we are or what we are then suddenly, change to another identity again depending on our motivation.
