Re: Best friends

Post by Vivian Paschal »

I have a friend named Muna. She's so cool. We talk about everything and always have each other's back. We've been friends for nine years now. She said to me once that she'll sit in my house when we're eighty and still be able to tell me about her bad life decisions. I replied that I'll be there when we're eighty (Goodwilling) to tell her I could make such decisions too. We try to improve and correct each other. She doesn't ever lie to me and I don't lie to her either. We may not agree all the time, but there's trust, love and understanding. That's what I call friendship.

I'm not the best at social interactions, so I find it harder to allow people in to become friends. With that being said I do have a couple of best friends in my life and they are extremely important in my life. I would describe my relationship with them as honest and open. I know that acceptance is always going to be there through disagreements or differing opinions. I love them dearly and know that no matter what we will always be there for each other! Friendships are so important in life so I value these two more than many things!

Godfredo and Max's friendship is full of mistrust and dishonesty. I have always loved to cultivate for healthy relationships wherever I go. Faithfulness, trust and honesty are some of the pillars I work with.

In my view, I consider good friends as those that are there for me when things are not really moving for me. Those that feel they own part of my problems.

True friends are those who will tell you the truth and not just what you want to hear. They are there for you and support you through the good times and even more during the bad.

Other than my wife I could not really say I have had any real best friends since I left college 40+years ago. I have had aquantinces at work or church or as neighbors. A friend that I spend time with and talk to - no one other than my wife. She has been my best and only real friend in the last 40+ years.

I can only handle one really close friendship at a time; I tend to keep most people at a distance. That close friend though has been in my life for over 25 years and I'd trust them with my life. We're more like sisters than friends (each of our parents even treat us like sisters).

My closest friends are still the ones from my teenage years or even earlier (so, 20+ years for me). I don't live near any of them, but we keep in pretty close touch and try to get together whenever possible. If I had to pick a word to describe them, it might be "comfortable." Not that we don't challenge each other or face tough times, but that we are all acutely aware of each other and don't have a hard time jumping right back into our friendship despite the time away.

Friends to me are people who I can trust and confide in. They are the people who I can call if I need help and are there for me through any situation. They always want to see you suceed and provide encouragement and a helping hand.

I have a few friends that I can call on in a moments notice no questions asked. Most of my friends are really more of an acquaintance. I don't think I'd ask the big favors of most. The close ones help me out when I need help with my kids as my parents are too old and health is too bad to help much. Those friends are the ones I would miss the most if I or them were to move away.

Friends are really worth having. I have some who are very reliable. But I also believe some distance or privacy should be maintained to enhance sustainability.

I can always count on my friend when I need someone and she can count on me. We don't talk all the time but when we do it's as if we never stopped.
