I'm grateful that I haven't lost anyone close to me. I should appreciate them more while they are still around.

If there is something that I lost, that would be me. A young part of me.

Anyways, that's life. As someone famous stated (forgot the name) we need to kill a part of ourselves that can't survive alone.

And that's why I kill my little girl.

Love, love, love this discussion! My greatest loss: self. I had lost myself a few years back-- I was on the wrong path (nursing school), surrounded by people I did not blend in with, felt I had to be someone other than my who I authentically was. Needless to say, I felt like a square peg going through a round hole. I was uncomfortable, unhappy, and spiritually/emotionally DRAINED. At the end of the day I was living for other people. My true nature and happiness did not lie in the nursing field. Our careers do not make up the whole of who we are, however, they do take up a large chunk of our lives and it's vital to enjoy them. If not enjoy, at least not being miserable every day of your life. More importantly, it is vital to live for yourself. It hurt to disappoint the people I cared about when I walked away from something that did not allow my light to shine, but I could not go on disappointing myself. Losing myself the biggest loss I've ever experience; getting myself back was the more empowering experience I could have asked for. I am grateful for my loss because I came back as a pillar of not necessarily strength, but wisdom and courage. Strength isn't always everything-- I don't care to be the strongest, I just like to be capable. Strength comes through in your respect for your boundaries and respect for your own heart. I chose to follow my heart and haven't looked back since!

Losses are parts of life and humans encounter them in everyday life. The one and the greatest is my Love without which I can not live

I lost time, money and wasted my effort on the drop shipping business I tried hard to keep up.

Early on, it was my favorite kitten. I was devastated and I cried a lot. A few years ago, I lost my grandma. That was hard because we were close. I think I was afraid for awhile when I thought about my mortality. But, I found God and have found comfort in Him so I don't think about it much anymore.

Two years ago I lost a 16 year old cousin. She had a seizure and died in her sleep. I've been to a lot of funerals, buried my father, but that was one of the hardest days of my life.

16 1/2 years ago my good friend died in a tragic car accident. 3 other girls were in the same car and only one of them survived. It was hard because she was on life support for a couple of days, but neither my dad nor my boyfriend would take me to say goodbye (I didn't, and still don't drive). She was such an amazing person. Even though she's been gone much longer than we were actually even friends, I still think about her and miss her. Every few months, she visits me in my dreams.

Interesting to note, the accident happened on prom night. Our prom theme was Heaven on Earth. The last picture taken of my friend was of her all dressed up, looking radiant, in front of a sign that said "Welcome to Heaven."

When my Mum died. She went into a coma and never came round so I could tell her I loved her, and we'd had words the previous day. It's nearly 9 years ago now but still haunts me.

Confidence. There was a point when I was younger when I thought I could do it all. I'm a little more cautious and less likely to volunteer myself now. I've always wanted that carefree feeling back.

The greatest lost I've ever experienced was my mom passing when I was 16 I just got back home from military school was gone for 6 months we talked the whole time and wrote each other she said she's see me on my birthday which was 20 days after I was to graduate she commited suicide 8 days after i got out i felt lost and numb almost as if I was dead too I look at my myself and feel as if I'm a ghost floating around almost like the walking dead is the best I could describe ever since than I feel nothing but cold physically and emotionally I'm socially awkward since than. I have bad trust issues and things seem hard and I'm lost but I'm not ready to give up just cause my mom did. I didn't lose just my mom I lost everything my family broke apart after she passed and my belongings were gone her stuff was gone my heart died when she died it'll take time to mend.i have hope though.thays my biggest loss ive ever experienced

Loosing my mom. Was harder when not being able to talk about her afterwards without crying.
