No I don't think we all the same. Personally when I listen to songs, I am either thinking of the future, or I am thinking of nothing at all.

I totally agree with you. Adele's lyrics bring back lots of memories to mind. Some seems to just tell my experience and my emotions at the time. It's one of the many reasons am drawn to her songs.

There are definitely songs that I have loved and listened to so much throughout my childhood. If I ever listen to those same songs again now as an adult, it brings back a whole lot of fond memories and it's so enjoyable to experience.

Yes! When traveling for work I had a selection of "road music". It carried memories of my family and children with me wherever I went. When I hear those same songs now I get the urge to go on the road again!

I think that's what makes certain songs catchy, the fact that we can relate to it.

I can relate! I have songs that I will hear and will either take me back to a memory, or simply make me look at my life and see if it still applies to me in more ways. I know many people like that as well.

I think that is a beautiful way our brains give us to escape. I've also experienced something like that and it's really amazing.

Music is always tied to the mind and soul. I love backstreet boys and westlife back in the days. Each time I hear their songs, it all comes back to me both the feelings of happiness and sadness

Very much the same. Music is the number one factor that leads me to reach out to someone I haven't talked to in a while. "Hey! (Blank) just came on and it reminded me of the time when..."

Yes, absolutely. There are songs that take me back to the fun times, and songs that recall sad times like a loved one's funeral. There are also songs my grandmother liked and sang and hearing those always takes me back to the moment she said she liked the music. It's kind of sad because she isn't here now, but songs and her memory are.

Trap memories in tunes - I love the phrase and definitely agree. Some good, some bad. Really is quite magic.

Yes, for sure. Some songs that I enjoyed just for the sake of the song itself don't hold any specific memories.

Others, like the song played at a friend's funeral, will always hold that memory for me. Some albums take me back to a season in life.

I definitely relate memories to tunes. Sometimes, when a tune doesn't bring back a pleasant memory, I try to listen to it all the time again to change that memory by relating that tune to new, more enjoyable thoughts. Does anyone else do this?

I feels like everyone has atleast a couple songs that bring this on. It happens to me quit often where I hear a song and immediately I remember a specific memory linked to it or sometimes even a specific time period in my life. I think it's super incredible that songs have the ability to trigger memories and almost transport you back to another time, at least in a sense.
