I was a fan of Elias. :lol2: Malika was in his heart for eight years and in order for him to move on, or move forward, he had to find her. It thought this was courageous because he could have easily chosen to stay in his imaginary world of love, but he chose to live in the real world. What he got was closure and not the happily ever after he was looking for, but either way, he's back in the land of the living.

I liked Yasir and Mariam, not so much because I loved the characters, but I loved the intense battle of faith that Yasir endured. I thought it was narrated very compellingly, and was very real and identifiable. We all feel that way about God sometimes.

Nadia was my favourite character all the way. How strong and independent she remained despite all that she went through. She remained strong through the things that were meant to pull her down.

I would have to say that my favorite character in this book is Nadia. This is because she seems to have the worse in of the relationship issues. A single mother living in a country that more idealizes the men as being more superior. Yet, she overcomes every obstacle that comes her way, therefore, is a good definition of a strong independent woman.
