The rose is offered and at the same time he has a rose tree, that's when he turns to care of the rose tree,so the rose tree also saw the rose being offered is that why she turned her back? Remember rose tree can produce many roses....,

I think the narrative is that " he was turned down by whom he loved, he had pains because he was turned down but it was more of a freedom for him to return to the rose himself turned down for the so called tree"

I felt that this was wrote expressing your feelings towards someone in your life without naming them or who they are to you and I really enjoyed seeing your pov of the situation.
