I always considered The Happy Prince a great read a loud story for my preschoolers. It touches the heart of the innocent.

The happy prince is a master piece. All human beings should learn to share with the needy and the poor in the society we live in.

Oscar Wilde has always been a good writer. As an English and Literary Studies graduate, I've always loved him, alongside Shakespeare and Wordsworth. A great read too.
Most times, I fall flat on my face. But never do I remain on the floor; I rise again.

Great choice! Wilde shows the differences that exist between the rich and the poor. But simply giving to the poor does not solve their dilemma. It brings them a short-lived joy. The Prince, on the other hand, after giving all he had (and was as poor as the poor he had tried to help) was simply discarded. There has to be a different way to bridge the gap.

It is a beautiful story when read aloud. Perhaps because I first encountered Wilde's plays, I've always read all his works aloud--even The Picture of Dorian Gray.

This is such a beautiful story and I'm so excited to see the Oscar Wilde film 'The Happy Prince' with Rupert Everett and Colin Morgan. I love the deeper meanings in Wilde's works.

Thanks for posting this! I do love Oscar Wilde. This story is so bittersweet; I hate what happened to the Prince but it's a true reflection of people as they are.
