Ah these lines are overwhelming especially this one - 'But I loved Narcissus because, as he lay on my banks and looked down at me, in the mirror of his eyes I saw ever my own beauty mirrored.'

I found it quite amusing how the lake only liked him because it could admire itself and its beauty when he was there. It seems as if he, Narcissus, wanted to be friends with the lake, but the lake only liked him because it could like itself. The last sentence made me chuckle :)

This is sad to read, some one is missed and it also tells of a saying, "had I known is always at last." sometimes it's too late to tell someone how you felt about them.

Well where do I start . Its a short book and it was interesting as it was written by Oscar Wilde . I honestly think this story could use a bit more detail and could be more expressive . The language could be made simpler too . But good job Oscar . :)

Very interesting. To me, Narcissus like many in the world was caught up in his own beauty so much so, that he did not notice the beauty around him. The pool could perceive how Narcissus' image somehow reflected its own. Many of us walk through life with such a limited focus, and miss the far greater and limitless bigger picture.

A beautiful poem with a wonderful short story about true love. I wished if it was a long non-ending story.

Love this one! Wilde knew exactly how to phrase his last sentence so the readers would be left with the ultimate point that the pool was just as narcissistic. Definitely wouldn't have the same impact if you rearranged the sentence.
