Not one of my favorite Blake works. To me, The Tyger conveys more emotion and power.

This poem shows the writer's commitment to his rose , his love , irrigardless of of her constant rejection of his devotion having denied himself all pleasures offered him for her...he still loves and is devoted to her when all he get is torns or pain for his care...

It's beautiful and tragic such love is commendable but written with skill

It sounds like a man was tempted by another woman and he chose his wife. Unfortunately the wife could only see the temptation of another and not the restraint her husband showed.

I remember coming across William Blake when reading an English poetry book for my speech and drama lesson when I was fifteen, and the music of the language really appealled to me. I also remember his poems being read in episodes of the 1987 television series 'Beauty and the Beast' so yet another way to enjoy his work. This one is especially beautiful given the metaphor of a rose and its thorns that he captured so well.
