I love the pool's response "But I loved Narcissus because, as he lay on my banks and looked down at me, in the mirror of his eyes, I saw ever my own beauty mirrored." This is like most relationships, one can't have a relationship unless they share a common interest or see things a certain way.

Overall, "Disciple" is a thought-provoking tale that prompts readers to reflect on the balance between admiration and self-preservation, as well as the potential dangers of unwavering commitment.
Wilde uses this story to comment on the nature of discipleship, the power dynamics in relationships, and the complexities of admiration. The contrast between Erskine's fervent devotion and Graham's more practical perspective raises questions about the boundaries of idolization and the ethical implications of blind devotion.
