I got my name because my mum and dad couldn't agree on one, my mum wanted to call me 'Milly' but my dad didn't like it, so they called me 'Emily' as a compromise, with my mum thinking she'd call me Milly for short. She never has!

My family is very Italian, if I was a boy my dad was going to call me Veto Anthony, and if I was a girl, my name was going to be Nicole Ray, so my nick name could be Nikki because my dad's name is Nick and he wanted me named after him. But when the time came, the night "it all happened" my mom and dad were a little drunk and had quite a few oysters to eat and thought when I finally came out that it would be funny to call me Pearl. But luckily my sister was there to save me from the years of humiliation, and named me Emily Anne and it all worked out in the end.

In India, deciding names is huge deal. The meaning of the name is considered important, as well as the thought process behind it. My grandmother chose my name, i.e., Ananya which means 'unparalleled or unique', and probably she wanted it to be in synchronization with my elder cousin's name, which meant 'out of the world'.

I got my name from someone I really haven't met talk of know. Well my mum told me the man gave me the name Elkanah when I was still in the womb and it means 'The Lord's seal'.

Mom was convinced that I was going to be a boy...they had a boy's name all ready, but had not decided on a girl's name at all. I was born and the Doctor said to my mom, "Hey, Margie, it's a girl...what are you going to name her, Gigi?" My mother said "Oh, No, a girl?"

Pamela was considered and so was Mary Frances, but for some reason neither fit the bill. I was born in a Catholic hospital, and the night before I was to go home, a Nun came into my mother's room and said that they had to put something on the birth certificate besides "baby girl".

Evidently I was born on a church feast day dedicated to Saint Paul...hence the name "Paula".... I kid you not!

My mom gave me my name. It is a name which means follower of Christ. She's really very religious and has a lot of faith in God. Although it's considered as a common name but I definitely cherish it.

I got my name because my mom was going to name me Ruby LaVerne after her grandmother (Ruby) and mom (LaVerne). Thankfully, my aunt told my mom "hell no," so my mom named me Ebony and my middle name is her mother's middle name Antoinette since it is also a feminine form of my father's middle name Antonio.

I was named after both of my grandmothers. Also, my parent's spelled my name differently because I have a more difficult (Polish) last name and therefore thought since I had to learn to spell the last name might as well mix my first name up a bit and make it different.

My parents literally stole my first and second name from a birth announcement in the local newspaper. So yeah, I'm basically a copy and paste of someone else haha
