I used to like option c - neither! I just couldn't get around how "out there" sci-fi was. Then I met my sci-fi movie-loving husband and kind of got hooked! Maybe now that I like watching sci-fi, I should give some of the books a try....

I prefer reading. I love movies though but I remember watching the film adaptation of The Transhumanist Wager and I didn't like it as much as the novel. Watching the story with my mind's eye as I read is much more exciting.

I like to do both. I do find that if the book has a movie made of it, then whichever one I do first is the best. If I read it first, the movie is a let down cos it's never how I imagined it to be. If I watched the movie first then the actors become part of the book and I follow them through it.

On the whole books tend to explain things better. You always find out more of the background while reading.

I would prefer to read it depending on what it is. If it is scary I would rather read because I handle it better that way. Sometimes with Sci-Fi if I read the book first I will be able to understand it better when I watch it.

Honestly speaking I don't enjoy watching sci-fi but I think I prefer watching it to reading. That is because a lot of the scientific references (particularly IT) goes over my head if they don't fall within my area of "expertise"

I prefer watching sci-fi over actually reading because most of the times to get authors who can pull out the story without getting boring with too much technological terms or not fulfilling your expectations, are rear to find.

I like both reading and watching sci-fi. Whilst reading, even if the author hasn't made a great set up, you can always fill up the holes in your imagination. On the other hand, movies won't give you that scope. And any error on their part seems large.

That depends on the interest of the audience, some enjoys visual while others enjoys reading, those that reads the book gets the primary message since not all which was written will be performed in the movies.

I have no TV , so I guess I have to read. On serious matters now, everyone has a different understanding level for instance some people understand better through visuals, others through audio, others through reading etc hence it depends on your innate creative abilities.

Good question. I love watching movies and will watch a movie I like 20+ times. I honestly have read maybe 4 books multiple times. It depends on how much time I have, if I want a new story, or whether I feel like reading. Most likely I will go for a movie, special effects are incredible these days. I sometimes do go back and watch earlier films just to see how they managed with the special effects, quite amusing. Something's are in fact too amazing and unique to imagine with out the aid of a movie. I love seeing how different people interpret different things.

I love to watch science fiction more, as sometimes reading science fiction can become too technical and boring. However, if it is an upbeat science fiction novel, I will take my time and read it.

There is some scifi I like to watch. Star Wars comes to mind. I've tried reading novelizations within that universe but never gotten into them. For the most part, I prefer to read. I feel like I get more of the characters in the book, and I can picture the effects as I go.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

I never read a good sci-fi book, although I tried to find one. So I will have to choose movies. If anyone knows a good sci-fi book to recommend me, I am open to suggestions.
