Sci-Fi: Orson Scott Card's Ender series and the first book of the Bean series are amazing. It's just too bad that Orson Scott Card is a terrible human. And one sci-fi book I read recently that blew me away was The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers. It's not exactly a series, but there is a sequel!
