Just a thought: There were six kittens that came to play around on Farmer Beau's grassy lawn. Five left, but one remained. I'll like to speculate that that lone one probably did not have much kinship with the others, and that most probably it was subject to bullying by the rest. Whatever the case, it was welcome that Kailey had a good home, and the Beau couple had a delightful pet. It was a win-win situation. What hypothesis do others have?

This is interesting. I did not get the impression that the other five kittens bullied their sibling. I thought that Kailey just liked where she was and felt safe there at the farm, whereas the other kittens wanted to embark on a new journey, but not necessarily together.

Do you know the story, "the three little pigs"? I prefer to consider that Kailey stayed with the couple because the purpose of the kittens, was to find for a new home but the rule is, one kitten per household is allowed.

I like what you have said, Donnavila Marie01. One kitten per household is allowed seems like a hypothesis. :)

I also didn't get the sense that Kailey was bullied but I do agree that she didn't seem to have much kinship with them. I don't remember any scene in the book where she felt lonely after they left or particularly missed them.

That's a good point about Kailey not feeling lonely. I just remember her being excited for her new sleeping area, and then becoming friends with Sammy. I wonder, though, what happened to the rest of her siblings? I'm thinking they most might have gone in different directions.

I agree. It seems that every animal has its own unique personality just like people. So, this was where Kailey belonged. Apparently it was not where the other kittens belonged.

Maybe the story teaches us another lesson of letting go and moving forward. We can not keep the people dear to us forever because they have their own lives.

That could be case. It's a sad lesson though especially if the other kittens were Kailey's family and she doesn't see them ever again.

Also, I don't think that Kailey was bullied by the others, its just that she liked the farm and the couple living there.

I also thought Kailey just liked farm life while the other cats wanted to explore.

I thought Kailey stayed back because she liked the comfort of the farm and the meals.

I think the kitten felt welcomed and so made the best of it by staying behind.

I agree that Kailey was not bullied, but had a total diffrent unique personalities that the other kitten could not flow with.so they did'nt really go along.
