The first book I remember reading was the iconic Three Little Pigs! Is always the first book I reach for when tutoring and reading to little kids.

A book of Bible stories. Much of the biblical stories I remember were from it and not from the actual thing. It was mostly textbooks in school after that, until I discovered A Wrinkle in Time.

The first book I remember reading was The Very Hungry Caterpillar. It might have been The Runaway Bunny though. Those were two of my favorite children's books which were like this book in that they were picture books featuring animals (although there were no humans in either book).

We had many versions of Grimm's Fairytales and I remember reading those. Luckily I started with adapted versions, so most of the horror and gore was taken out. :)

On my first day at primary school, she told the teacher I could already read and the teacher tried to get me to read a 'Peter and Jane' picture book. I rolled my eyes at her, and she told me to choose a book from the shelf and read that instead.
Apparently, I selected one of Enid Blyton's Famous Five books and read the whole first chapter aloud, without mistakes. I was four.
My son's preschool teachers seriously told me my child was a genius because he was reading the hardest books they had available... He was 3. He pretty much taught himself. I just read to him a lot.

Apart from textbooks, I don't think I have read other books when I was young. I guess I started reading real novels around junior high, starting off with some of Agatha Christie's works; and eventually, the Harry Potter series.

My mom read to us all the time as kids. But one of the first books series I remember reading for myself was the Ramona books by Beverly Cleary. My kids get these today as audiobooks from the library and I love listening along with them. Just as good as I remember!

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer was the proper first book I read by myself besides other books which I read as part of school.
Even after joining work, I bought a copy of the book to add in my collection as a meaning and rememberance for how it all started  my reading journey :D

I don't remember the book name but it was a children story about planets. I got it as a prize from my school.
