Re: Should 'Raven's Peak' be made as a movie?
I have seen some movies get it right, but if something is going from book to screen, I think it should generally be done in a mini-series format. Mini-series are able to capture so much more detail and stay truer to the book than movies.

I’ve never seen a single episode of Game of Thrones, but I read the first two volumes, and I struggled through those. Horribly written drivel (in my opinion); cardboard characters, contrived story lines. I found the villains more interesting than the good guys. I likely won’t finish this overblown, over the top series. But I thought why in the world would a cable network want to bring this to the small screen? Then it hit me: lots of characters, lots of plot twists and subplots and story lines, which is what viewers want because they have short attention spans. Even if they don’t care for this character or that one, they’ll tune in week to week to see what happens to their favorite characters even if they only appear for a few minutes.
I’m not a big fan of turning books into movies. I prefer to enjoy what a writer’s words make happen inside my head, not what some high-salaried director reinvents in an effort to sell tickets. Then again, it a major motion picture studio approached me to turn into a movie my time travel, alternate reality science fiction diptych in which Germany wins World War II—One Hot January and January’s Thaw—I probably wouldn’t say no. But I’d hold my breath until final casting was done and hope they didn’t select Tom Cruise to play Joe January.

Raven's peak can definitely be next in line as it has the charm of suspense and detective investigation by Abigail Dressler is called upon to discover the root of the evil affecting people.
This movie can definitely give the new mix been seeked by the audiences.

I agree! The dialogue, action sequences, and the gory details seemed a little too concise for my taste as a book. I would love to see this as a movie.Emilyflint wrote:Most definitely! It could have almost been written for screen. Usually there is too much info missed when going to screen but in this book it would be perfect!
