Thanks for reading it and stopping by! Glad I could help you decide. :tiphat:

This was a great review - and timely for me as I had been eyeing this book as a possible next read. I'm glad I didn't pick it up. It's a shame that all of that 30th Century glory you've described in the first chapter is missing from the rest of the book. The way you described it sounds captivating. And while I'm all about supporting gender diversity and sexual fluidity, I'll pass on the gratuitous love scenes. :hand: Thank you for your honesty!

I was disappointed because all the other reviews I saw said it's a good one. I really do love the technology they had, and the plot seems to be promising at first. Sigh. Well, glad I could help you! Thanks for stopping by! :tiphat:

It's a pity that the author's portrayal of sexuality is only limited to his use for them in the plot. I was interested in reviewing the book, but it seems like I will have to give this a pass. Thanks for the brilliant review!

I feel you summarized a pretty complicated plot quite well here. You made me interested in the first part of the book, although this genre really isn’t my thing. However, it seems a few other reviewers agree with you that the author failed to keep up the pace and the interest. Poor character development and erotic scenes for their own sake are pet peeves for me. Also, it seems like Jennifer’s plot is pretty blah? Wanting to fit in- really?

While reading the erotic scenes, I feel like I was inside a sexual fantasy. It really disgusted me, especially when I reached the end and realized it has nothing to do with the plot or even in the character development. Ugh. Hahaha, I agree with your sentiments on Jennifer. I mean, I understand that she wants to escape her past and all that she is, but she does that for the rest of the book. It really bummed me out. To think I was excited to read about a main female character and she turned out to be blah.

I've seen this book come up for review several times, and the plot has interested me each time. I was on board until you mentioned the explicit scenes. I typically try to avoid books with explicit scenes as I find them unnecessary. I'm glad you saved me the disappointment of reading the book myself. Your review was really thorough and I feel like I got a good idea of what the book is like. Thanks for such an honest review!
Comment on my review and I'll comment on yours. I'm always looking for new books to read!
