The book, If Life Stinks, Get Your Head Outta Your Buts, A No-Nonsense Guide to Happiness and Success by Mark L Wdowiak, could be described as Boot Camp for the self-help crowd. In this sugar-free read, Mark accepts absolutely no excuses, from the reader, for why his/her own life may be less than ideal. Mark offers up brutally honest and straight forward advice on how to change one's outlook and behavior to bring about happiness and success.

Through the sharing of his own real-life stories and history, Mark challenges readers to take personal responsibility, of their current situation and circumstances. He implores readers to think about what's wrong, in their thoughts and deeds, take charge of actions, emotions and mindset, and begin the work required to earn the lives they want.

I enjoyed that Mark wrote with heart and sincerity. He shares enough personal narratives that most any reader should be able to find him/herself within an example story or two. Mark points out many common flawed patterns of thought and behavior, that all of us are guilty of, at one time or another, and explains the harm they can cause, how to go about fixing them (through the philosophies of the "Three Main Areas" of one's life) and why doing so is so important for growth and achievement. Through the honest story-telling, the reader is able to see and better understand that each of us is a student, who is constantly learning, and that life is the ultimate classroom.

The information did, at times, seem repetitive. However, given the subject matter and how each of the "Three Main Areas" of life certainly, naturally, overlap, I'm not sure how one would be able to easily remedy that. Overall, I enjoyed the book and found it to be very interesting and full of useful advice. I would give this book four out of four stars. and would recommend it to anyone who feels stuck in a rut and is ready to take inventory of their lives, set priorities, define goals and start their work towards whatever makes them happiest. Mark references the Laws of Attraction and the importance of gratitude throughout this book. Having heard Dr Wayne Dyer talk about the art of manifestation and having listened to many Joyce Meyer sermons, I can definitely tell Mark has been influenced by both, as he says he has, and I feel their fans would enjoy this book, as well.
