The Roadmap to the End of Days by Daniel Friedmann is a chronology of the human history, juxtaposed to the events described in the religious scriptures. Even more, this book paints a picture of the future as foreseen by the Jewish Torah and the Christian Bible. To understand Daniel Friedmann’s work, the reader should be at least familiar with either Judaism or the Christian’s teachings. The traditions of Torah and the Old Testament overlap by depicting some of the same ancient events and characters. This book brings a new level of understanding to these prophecies, thus completing the time-frame in which the human history unfolds, while the future is foretold.

The main predicament in the Roadmap to the End of Days is that the scriptures have given us a direction, a divine plan by which we can achieve the Cosmic Purpose of our existence. According to the religious teaching, we are created in an image of the God who stays concealed from us. While that circumstance has given us a freedom to create the world in which our creator can transcend, our inadequacies and noncompliance with the laws are continuing to keep us away from achieving the Cosmic Purpose. Friedmann points out how the human history from the ancient times and including the more recent events in our memory, recur in a precise pattern throughout the scriptures. The author attempts to prove that our human voyage is unlikely coincidental and instead, it is a part of a tightly controlled journey to the end of time.

Friedmann’s talent is clearly in pointing out the mathematical framework in which a repetition of the major events occurred throughout the history. For example, the pattern of seven as represented in the seven days of the week, which equals the time it took for the Creation to complete. Each day of the Creation takes a thousand years of the human history to complete. Another interesting formulation is that a millennium consists of the six periods of 167 years each, where each period stands for a unique significance in the scriptures. Helpful to grasp these concepts is the author’s use of tables through the book. The same patterns presented in the ancient teachings are often a part of our daily lives. We all may remember an old axiom where “a broken mirror brings seven years of misfortune” or, “the third time is a charm” if you are not successful the first couple of attempts. This book helped me understand how many everyday endeavors fall within the same type of a pattern derived from scriptures.

In this compelling work, the author successfully looks through the lens of an ancient teachings to underscore that the historical events are not a haphazard occurrence. My personal favorite is a chapter describing the sefirot. The sefirah is a channel of a life energy and ten sefirot (pl.) define the actions and emotions of a mind. Eternity for example, is a mindful emotion acting in concert with the wisdom and kindness, creating a positive achievement. This multidimensional interrelating of emotions and actions with human characteristics, helps to bring better understanding of the people and their actions. It is conceivable that the authors of the ancient scripts already had this comprehension.

Even though based on a religious preconception, I found Friedmann’s work refreshingly systematic and exhaustive. I was stricken with the clear easiness by which Friedmann derives his ideas from both Judaism and Christianity alike. This book is a part of a trilogy exploring the Creation and Genesis through the scientific scrutiny. Reading of the Roadmap to the End of Days has opened my interest to explore other books by Friedmann as well as the ancient scriptures. This is a highly professional work and may be helpful to the students of theology and philosophy. A source citation supports every fact in the book and a comprehensive dictionary explains the main terms. This is a well-organized and edited work, and I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. If you are a reader who is interested in the questions about human existence or purpose in the history, I highly recommend this book to you.
