I'm not really into space related stories, but for a book as this to give you the feeling of involvement providing an excellent visualization is a read that one certainly need to pay attention too. Thank you for this exquisite review!

I also have reviewed this book and I really enjoyed the read. But it seems you have not liked it as much as myself. Anyway, a good and comprehensive review. Thanks 👍👍

The protagonist's decision may not readily seem sensible, and yet it is a reality that not all the right things to do are the most popular options. I hope his tough call paid off eventually. Thank you for the honest review.

Yes, and we can not really judge someone's decisions unless we are put in their shoes. Thanks for the comment, Espie!

You make the book sound really exciting, though I often get really frustrated with cliffhanger endings. Is this one of those books where it might be more satisfying to wait for a second installment before picking it up?
I was born with a reading list I will never finish.

Yes, this is exactly such kind of a book where you have to have the second installment lined up next. Thanks for commenting!

Even within the short span, the major characters are portrayed with utmost care. Jeff Bower’s self-imposed reclusion following his past mishaps, Jocelyn’s headstrong and indomitable nature, Emma’s jealousy and straightforwardness put the characters in a realistic light. Although the rest of the characters are two-dimensional, that does not detract from the reading experience.
I've found that it's not very common to find good character development in this kind of fast-paced stories. Authors tend to overlook this asset in favor of action, but I find it very enriching.
I loved your initial confession and it really drew me into your review.
Sci-fi isn't my cup of tea but it seems like a great book for readers who enjoy the genre!

I like that you felt like you were not reading the book, but instead watching a "fast-paced space-thriller movie". It is a talent to write in such a way to help readers visualize the settings and people of a story. I think that the cliffhanger is there to make readers want to read the next book to find out how Jeff Bowers deals with the newfound powers that the Ulim gave him, but warned against using. How will Bowers save the world from the Prox?
