William E. Combs, "WHO TOLD YOU THAT YOU WERE NAKED?”
A Book Review by Emjopin
I commend Bill Combs for writing this book that is mainly based on Biblical scriptures and his personal testimonies. "Why I wrote the book, if you listen to the news, you know our world is in serious trouble." Bill Combs, "WHO TOLD YOU THAT YOU WERE NAKED?”
The first four chapters revisit The Garden of Eden, a refreshing re-examination of God’s Love, the abundance of Paradise, Innocence, The Tempest, Respect and Rebellion, subtly Pride and Disobedience. ‘God saw that everything He created was perfect. The book focused on the garden and missed the prelude why a serpent creeps in out of jealousy. A rebel fallen angel was defeated by an archangel and desperately cheats the world to a never ending rebellion.
Chapters’ five to eight delves on FAITH. It’s either you have faith or fear because you lack faith. Bill Combs cited many examples, biblical and his personal accounts. All stories coupled Faith with Obedience. Abraham, Noah, Joshua obeyed every word because they have Faith. They humbly obeyed out of Respect and Love for God. He also noted the persecutions that a faithful has to face and contend with just to obey God’s command to the letter. The next chapters discussed Jesus being The Way and The Redeemer. Jesus Himself showed how He obeyed The Word even unto death. He may elude death if He wills to but he submitted with all humility and obedience. His strong faith that His Father will deliver Him and bring Him back to Life sustained Him. At this point we must come to realize that the origin of rebellion and disobedience are the very mentors of the worldly empire who crucified Jesus. Today they continue to crucify mankind by controlling worldly affairs, harnessing technology to manipulate disasters, to sow fear and confusion.
Then come Amazing Grace and Living in God’s Rest by simply following Him. He speaks; we listen then obey as instructed. But do we really know Him? He will reveal His Name but only to those who will accept and receive The Word as clearly stated in The Book of Life, the author’s reference.
“Who Told You That You Were Naked?” just as, “Who told you that the world is crumbling?”
This book will surely appeal to all ages because the title itself is amusingly a teaser. It haunts ones’ curiosity to untangle the secrets of that garden, the hazy symbolism, what’s so grave about eating an “apple?
There are few typos like “sonshine” on page 14 and “solders” that may mean soldiers on page 101. For the brilliant intent for writing this book and for the lifetime effort to live by its message more so for being an eye opener to the multitude who choose to remain subservient to the authors of chaos and destruction, I rate this book 4 out of 4.
