‘Happiness is All We Want’ by Ashtusho Mishra is a book written with an intention to give very important guidelines on how to achieve a happy life and how to always stay happy. The author who acknowledges being truly happy by developing certain habits has given the tips and guidelines to whoever longs for true happiness. His guidelines are boundary-less, they are relevant and practicable to anyone, no matter your religious background or beliefs.

The book has been structured into three main parts; the first part majors on the mental being, he metaphorically refers to the mind as the monkey which is restless and has to be sedated. It is only by calming the mind that one may think of achieving true happiness; he, therefore, gives guidelines on how this may be done.

The second section is referred to as the physical well-being, again the body is being compared to an animal, some treat their bodies as a donkey that works without resting and without being rewarded, but to be happy we ought to treat our bodies like a horse, that is kept healthy and never overburdened with tasks. The last part is known as spiritual well-being, this is where he puts more emphasis and gives tips on how to spiritually be at peace and how we can avoid certain fears that may cause us sorrow.

This books’ focus is on improving and developing our habits in order to live happy always. All the chapters are developed around this, with a major concentration on what we should always do right. The author has given practicable, inspiring examples and he has summarized them as smart wellbeing for every chapter. This, therefore, makes it the best guide for everyone who desires to live a happy holistic life.

I really admire the fact that the writer made the book simpler, easy to understand and read, in short, it is neither bulky nor ambiguous. Even those who do not have time to read a book over and over again would find it easy to grasp since the tips are well summarized making them easy to apply.

The fact that the author has included practical tips and things to do has really simplified the book even further. The book is free from grammatical errors, it is well structured, even though I think he would have put the chapter on spiritual well-being before other sections since it is from the soul that happiness sprouts, though that is not a reason to rate it below 4 out of 4.

I like that it's simple enough for everyone to understand. Sometimes these books try to be more than what they are, and become very confusing.
Great review, thanks so much!

Likening the mind to a restless monkey, and the body to a donkey/horse is unique and thought-provoking. It's usually helpful when self-help groups are simple and practical. Thanks for your review.
