Based on your review, I'm glad I had not picked this book up to read. I would've felt what you had felt. A half-baked world of fantasy and those untied loose ends had surely turned me off. Thanks for the honest review.

I think I could deal with the abuse aspect of the story, but given the other issues you had with the novel I don't think I'll be reading it. I am not a fan of books where the author falls short in developing the characters and their world adequately. Thanks for the review.

There is a particularly disturbing and abusive relationship portrayed here which I found difficult to digest since the victim had acted quite bravely throughout the book. Hence, the victim’s meek endurance of this torture baffled me. Besides, so many questions remained unanswered which made the dénouement hard to accept. It has a satisfying end but not all the loose ends are tied up.
I find this type of inconsistency off-putting, but I enjoyed your candid review.

Yes, the plot inconsistencies did detract from the reading experience. Thanks for commenting.

I could not fathom what circumstances prompted banishment of weak and unwanted people to an asylum. Wasn’t there any government to prevent all of this? If no, why? Had anarchy set in? Nothing concrete was ever mentioned throughout the book.
I have always wondered about this, but I would conclude the reason must be tucked in there somewhere. Thanks for shedding some light on there being no light on this! I agree with the arguments you set forth in your review. Great review!

Ok, I don't know why any author would use flowery language to describe action scenes. This book seemed to have so much potential otherwise.

Love the way you write reviews. Looking forward to more.

Great review! I have also made a review for this. One thing to be taken into account was the violence and sexual innuendo.

Yes, violence and sexual innuendo need to be taken into account but I can deal with them. What I dislike is an inconsistent plot. Thanks for commenting!

This book seems to contain a novel idea, but not well-developed. I like that the author has created a fantasy world of her own. It would have been better if she provided more details regarding the questions arising in the minds of readers. Story doesn't seem to be well planned. I don't think I'd enjoy this book.

The summary sounds enticing. An alternate 1894 California, communicating with the dead, an asylum and a would-be Hitler make for an explosive story. Too bad the author seems to have bungled the execution.

Thanks for your incisive review.
