Final Notice is a fictional book that explores many social issues we face in our society. It deals with how senior citizens are treated, the challenges that immigrants from different countries face in their daily lives, the NRA impact on our society, and how technology affects healthcare. The book starts off by explaining how a doctor named Vijay Patel decides to develop a sports watch called the VT2 that measures a persons vital signs and alerts them with a Final Notice when their death will happen within a 30 day period. The watch was tested on a group of 100 people from ages 65 to 90 who were in good health for their age and had no history of depression. When the test subjects receive their Final notice they all have very different reactions.

One couple that gets to test the VT2 is a couple Vince and Trudy who are in their 60s in Pasadena, California. Vince gets knocked down by a young man in the mall. He isn’t badly injured but he is shaken up and him and his wife decide to purchase a gun for safety. They take the necessary tests to get a gun license then go to a gun show to look at the different types of guns that are available. After they learn how to properly use a gun they go to a store to make their purchase. The NRA offers senior citizens a discount on purchasing a gun so this is a big factor in their decision to purchase a gun.

Vince and Trudy have dinner with their friends Ahmed and Alma Khan who are Muslim immigrants and they end up having a conversation about how the NRA discount has impacted the senior population and the increase of seniors who are purchasing guns for protection. They also discuss how they have been mistreated because of their race and their fears of what will happen if Medicare and Social Security is scaled back.

I enjoyed reading this book because it gave a very accurate description of the many different aspects facing our senior population today. It also looks at how the NRA imacts society and what can happen when guns get into the wrong hands. It also looks at how people react when they know they only have a short time to live. Some people do good deeds with the time they have left and some people will commit crimes or get revenge on someone who has mistreated them. What would you do if you knew you were going to die within a month?

The only thing I didn’t like about the book was that the ending was too abrupt. Overall I enjoyed the book and I give it 3 out of 4 stars. I didn’t give it 4 stars because their were a few spacing errors within paragraphs

Although this watch is very functional, I would not want one because I wouldn't want to know of my demise. Thank you for your insightful review of this book.

I'm really on the fence about this book. The reviews seem to be mixed and may be too much politics for me in the thriller. Thanks for the great review!
